Product Review:Post Cereal-Honey Bunches of Oats
When I was a child, we lived off of cold cereal for breakfast. I had my favorite, my brother had his favorites, and then we ate whatever our mom had money for. When you think of cold cereal, you more than likely think of sugary cereals, cheap toys/trinkets within the bottom of a box, or high cost factor. For my family, I have to consider all of the above. My tween daughter loves to eat a healthier cereal brand, while my 7yr old son just loves to eat. Seriously, he is a big eater which can cost a ton while on summer school break.
Recently I was sent Post Cereal-Honey Bunches of Oats to review. I gave my 7 year old a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats with Real Strawberries. It didn’t take him long to devour the entire bowl. He thought the strawberries were delicious!! I liked that it has Low in fat, Cholesterol free, & Provides 9 essential vitamins and minerals plus 10g whole wheat per serving.
Since it garnered a positive rating for my 7 year old, I’m sure your family will like it as well. Right now, Honey Bunches of Oats had 9 different flavor varieties. I’m sure on is bound to be a winner in your household.

Box Tops For Education
It’s no secret that many school systems across America are struggling for money. Whether the need is playground equipment, music instruments, or field trip funds, fundraising is key to any school’s budget.
Last week I had the opportunity to attend a Box Top for Education University Event in New Orleans, La. Last year Box Tops for Education helped schools receive $67 million dollars nationwide in 2011!! On average, a school can typically receive $800 when the community can be involved. My children’s school has received over $1,400 just this school year alone.
I was very excited about this event. I love collecting Box Tops For Education for my children’s elementary school. In fact, since my daughter is a few years older than my 7 year old son, I generally give the Box Tops to my son. I’m hoping that by sending baggies full of Box Tops it makes up for those occasions that my 7 year old son gets his name on the board.
Ok… It’s bribery, but whatever gets my son on a teachers good side is always a plus in my book.
There are 3 ways to earn money for your favorite school.
1. Clipping Box Tops from participating products.
2. Earning E-Box Tops online by using their Shop & Earn Portal
3. Bonus Box Tops from Events at participating Stores like Sam’s club or Winn-dixie
I learned so much from this event, but the main goal for Box Tops For Education is to give back to our schools, the teachers, and most importantly the students.
Below are some facts you may not have know about Box Tops for Education.
- Did you know that Brands like Hanes, Brita Water & Green Giant Fresh Vegetables are all participating in the Box Top for Education?
- Red Bird Mission School raised $20,974 for their school in 1 year!! That is a lot of Box Tops!!
- You can earn Box Tops for your school just by signing up to receive their newsletters via email.
- Box tops for Education offers coupons on their site you can clip on General Mills products.
- There are 90k schools currently signed up for the Box Tops for Education Program Nationwide.
Does your children’s school participate in the Box Top for Education Program? Do you know how much your school has received year to date? Become involved & become (or help) your school’s Box Top For Education Coordinator.

Savings Challange Weekly Wrap-up: Week 1
We have just finished our first week of the New Year. In regards to my Savings Challenge, I was trying to be conscience of how much I spent & on what.
I have to say, some days are easier than others when it comes to savings. If I’m off of work, I normally have a harder time saving versus spending. Also, convenience is always a factor.
I had a few items I purchased that were not needed, including having to purchase eyeliner at a nearby store. I realized I had left the house without applying any on as I was pulling up at my work’s parking lot.
I think I did pretty good considering we went out to eat as a family once, and also took my mother to have lunch & see a movie. it goes to show you that you can still splurge on a few things if you cut back on other items.
Final Breakdown:
$14.88 Grocery Store – milk, cheese, etc.
$2.76 2 Movie Rentals – from a company similar to Redbox)
$2.72 Eyeliner Dollar General – I already had some, just needed quick.
$8.00 Server Tip $$ -Went to Chili’s Bar & Grill
$15.00 Movies – Took my mother to see The Girl w/ a Dragon Tattoo.
$14.00 Restaurant+ Tip – Also took my mother out to eat lunch
Total: $57.36
** This includes going out to eat 2x and movie tickets!! But that doesn’t include the grocery trip I’m going to make soon for Football Game Parties! Geaux Saints & LSU Tiger!
!!
I had a $10 gift Certificate to take my mother out to have lunch using Restaurant.com that I had previously purchased for $1!! >Right now you can treat your friends to a night out without breaking the bank. Use code FUN to get $25 Gift Certs for just $4! Using Promo code:Fun then Hit “Apply” I like to buy a few of these when the are on sale and save them for a rainy day.
